Three men get jail term for theft

DUBAI — The Dubai Court of Appeal has upheld the verdict of the Court of First Instance sentencing three Sudanese nationals to two years in jail for committing theft at the villa of a UAE national. They will be deported after serving their jail terms.

Marjan Green Bady Toto aged 37, Hayder Al Syed Hamza Sabir (48) and Osman Hassan Toto (38) were charged with breaking into the villa of Musa Ali at Al Twar and stealing jewelry, watches and mobile phones.

They were arrested by police following a raid on their house in Ajman which resulted in the recovery of a number of stolen articles. Jewelry, watches and mobile phones had been hidden by them on the roof of their house. These articles were later identified by the owners. The trio were found to be involved in several thefts in Ajman.

During interrogation in court, the accused denied the charges but the forensic lab tests confirmed that fingerprints found on the scene belonged to them.
