ONE would think that the Al Shariya crossroad in the Fujairah emirate is jinxed as not a month passes without a serious accident here. Indeed, it has been named Death Crossroad.
The issue should be resolved as soon as possible. Needless to say that the traffic is always heavy at this place. As a temporary measure, the Fujairah Department of Works has built a number of speed humps on side roads. The decisive way to tackle the menace is an immediate study of the hazards followed by swift action. Motorists must abide by traffic regulations and speed limits. Reckless driving at excessive speeds has proved to be very dangerous for several motorists.
