Test students regularly to combat cheating

SOME students have reportedly used Bluetooth headsets in cheating during final examinations. They proved to have used them for keeping in touch with their private tutors to get answers to all the questions they can’t answer. Such wireless devices were sold for Dh1,600 before the exams.

In view of that, students of all classes must be made to appear for tests on a monthly and regular basis to have their performance evaluated and their marks or grades compared to those of the final exams. A student keen on cheating can never be brilliant or even semi-brilliant all through the year. Besides, teachers must be selected according to stringent criteria. Private tuition too must be combated.

The administrative staff of schools must be efficient enough to block loopholes, and follow up on both students and teachers’ performance. These are some of the practical procedures to overcome the phenomenon of ‘cheating’ in the long run. Students must not be frisked during examinations.
