Dubai International Airport’s much-anticipated terminal dedicated solely to Emirates Airline opens today, with passengers on the Doha flight scheduled to be the first to experience the new facility.

It will be a busy start. Between the Doha flight’s departure today and 2pm on Wednesday, more than 40 flights will depart and arrive. During the first phase of the terminal’s opening, there will be 45 flights each day.

Passengers travelling to Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait, as well as to New York and Houston in the US, Toronto in Canada, and Sao Paulo in Brazil, will also be among the first to fly from Terminal 3.

Travellers can cruise past the Terminal 1 exit, driving with Dubai International Airport on their left, and take the next exit to Terminal 3, which sweeps passengers around to three levels of car parking and the departure and arrival points. Similarly, road signage leading from other directions to the airport points to Terminal 3.

An Emirates Airline official advised passengers to check which terminal their flight was departing from. Check-in opens three hours ahead of the flight time and posters and signs within the terminal direct passengers according to their flights.

The airport is opening in four phases, with flights to the GCC and Americas first, and the Middle East and Africa at a later stage. “Closely coordinated between Dubai Airports and Emirates, the phased opening of the terminal is aimed at bringing the facility online gradually to ensure the convenience and comfort of customers, an official of the airline said.

Both the facility’s operators, Dubai Airports and the airline, Emirates, have been running awareness campaigns urging customers to check in advance which terminal they are flying from. Passengers who registered their email addresses during the booking process will receive an email confirming their departure terminals.

Customers were also advised to confirm their departure terminal by checking their flight bookings and tickets, call 04-214 44 44 or visit www.emirates.com.
