Dr Ali bin Shukr, under-secretary of the Ministry of Health (MoH), yesterday passed an order to set up the task force that would follow up the handing over of the new buildings built at cost of Dh66 million. Among the buildings constructed and renovated are two health complexes and three health centres.

“The move is in line with the directives of the Minister of Health, Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qutami, who has underlined the significance of the follow-up of the ongoing work in new buildings and structures to ensure the quality and safety issues,” said Dr Shukr. The task force will be chaired by Dr Mariam Mattar, assistant under-secretary for Public Health and Primary Health Care.

Last year, the MoH had announced a number of new projects in the northern emirates for health services, including health care, school welfare, motherhood and preventive medicine.

Earlier, the MoH had announced to carry out a number of new construction projects in the northern emirates to introduce some services related to health care, school welfare, motherhood, and preventive medicine.

The two medical complexes being built at a cost of Dh19.5 million each, include Ajman Health Complex — to be ready by next June — and Umm Al Quwain Health Complex, scheduled to be ready next February.

The three health centres being renovated at a cost of Dh9 million each include Ibn Al Rasheed Health Centre, Falaj Al Muala and Al Qaraen Health Centre, all based in Ajman and Umm Al Quwain.

Meanwhile, Dr Mariam Mattar said a four-member task force would be set up to coordinate the work between the Ministry of Public Works and the assigned construction company.

“The task force will produce a regular assessment of the project and will put forward a detailed report on the work flow to the under-secretary of the ministry,” she said.
