“Although there is a wealth of national talent qualified to take up challenging professions, the number of UAE nationals employed is not much, despite 300,000 vacancies every year in the country. Tanmia is determined to change this scenario,” Al Barguthi told at a conference on the 'Future of Emiratisation', which was held recently in Dubai.

A total of 33,503 UAE nationals applied for various public and private sector jobs in the country between the end of 2001 till December 2005. Abu Dhabi had the highest number with as many as 11,727 national job seekers, while Dubai accounted for 7,714 job applicants. A total of 2,208 national job-seekers found placement at various organisations. Of the successful job-seekers, 33 per cent were employed in the trading sector, with the public sector and the banking industry coming next with 25 per cent and 17 per cent respectively.

“Tanmia is playing a major role in the overall development of UAE," he said.
