Tanmia signs MoUs with govt, pvt firms

DUBAI - The National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority Tanmia yesterday entered into partnerships with a number of private and government establishments and signed a memoranda of understanding with them as a means for ensuring employment, employment against training, and on the job-training for the UAE nationals registered with Tanmia.

Dr Abdul Rehman Al Awar, Director-General of Tanmia, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Kanoo Group represented by Mishal Kanoo, Deputy Chairman. Under the MoU, Tanmia will liaise with the Kanoo Group to identify its job requirements, carry out job matching, and nominate suitable candidates.

Tanmia will work with the Kanoo Group to develop training programmes to meet skill competency gaps of selected candidates, and will coordinate with the group to select appropriate training providers and co-invest in the training of selected candidates where required.

Tanmia undertakes to provide adequate follow-up of the training programmes during their implementation, besides introducing a mechanism for post-employment follow-up of UAE nationals employed through the authority.

On its part, the Kanoo Group will provide Tanmia, for the purposes of direct placement, with details about the vacancies they have, such as the job title, educational level of the candidates, and gender, in addition to the requirements for specific job openings.

The group has to select from among the candidates referred by Tanmia for different training programmes.

It has undertaken to provide general training to 15 candidates for three months through a combination of classroom lectures and work-placement; and for 10 candidates, it will provide on-the-job-training in different occupations, also for a period of three months. The Kanoo Group will collaborate with Tanmia to identify skill/competency gap, and design appropriate training programmes, besides contributing to the training of selected job-seekers.

The group will also provide Tanmia with post-employment feedback.

United Bank Limited: Another memorandum of understanding was also signed between Tanmia - represented by Ayesh Al Barguthi, Director Employment and Skills Development Centre - and the United Bank Limited, represented by Shaukat Mahmood Mir, General Manager.

The United Bank Limited has agreed to provide training to four candidates nominated by Tanmia, through a combination of classroom lecturers and work-placement for three months, and allow another four candidates to engage in an on-the job training programme, also for three months.

Apart from providing Tanmia with details about the available jobs, the bank has undertaken to coordinate with Tanmia to identify suitable training programmes that will enhance the skills of the candidates, co-invest in the training of selected job-seekers, as well as keep Tanmia updated about the performance of the candidates after appointing them.

Meanwhile, Tanmia will coordinate with the United Bank Limited to identify its job requirements, carry out job matching, nominate suitable candidates, develop training programmes for the candidates, select suitable training establishments, co-invest in the training of selected candidates where required, follow-up the training programmes, and provide a mechanism for following up job-seekers after their employment.

Emirates Transport: Tanmia also signed the same memorandum of understanding with Emirates Transport which will train the newly appointed on the job, or through a combination programme of classroom lectures and on the job-training for two months, in addition to providing on the job-training for 30 UAE national job-seekers.

Mr Al Barguthi signed the MoU on behalf of Tanmia, while Emirates Transport was represented by Hanan Mohammed Saqr, Director of the Human Resources Department.

Under the partnership, Emirates Transport will provide Tanmia with a report on the implementation of the memorandum during 2004, since their partnership will be revised on an annual basis.
