Talk to boost ties

DUBAI — Deputy Director-General of Dubai Municipality, Mattar Al Tayer, received at his office yesterday Bart Twaalfhoven, Consul-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Dubai. During the meeting, they reviewed areas of co-operation and ways of strengthening the friendly ties between Dubai and the Netherlands.

Al Tayer welcomed the consul and discussed with the Dutch diplomat the existing relations and co-operation between DM and the Consulate-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. He also explored possibilities of further expanding these.

Twaalfhoven said he is quite impressed with the fast-paced development that is being witnessed by Dubai. He said the Light Rail project being taken up by Dubai is a wise decision.

Al Tayer said Dubai is providing as much infrastructure facilities as it can to attract more and more trade and tourists. He said the municipality is currently working on a long-term plan for easing traffic and enhancing the road network.
