Okilov made his remarks during his tour to the iconic edifice accompanied by Deputy Consul of Tajikistan in the UAE Bobokalonov Yousaf and a high level delegation. He also toured the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre including the library.
They also visited the tomb of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan which is located near the mosque. There, they recited ‘Al Fatiha’ in prayer for the lost leader of the nation and prayed to God Almighty to bestow His divine mercy on his soul.
At the conclusion of the tour, theTajik prime minister received copies of the Center’s publications from the director of the Center Yousef Al-Obaidli. He also presented a book on the President of Tajikistan among a collection of souvenirs to the Center’s officials.
The mosque which is large enough to accommodate over 40,000 worshipers opened its doors to the public in 2007. In 2008, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center was established as an affiliate of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, to manage the day to day operations, not only as a place of worship and Friday gathering, but has been a place of learning and discovery through its education and visitor programs.
