Swift issuance of health cards from next month

ABU DHABI — Preventive Medicine Department will cut down on red tape while issuing health cards from July onwards.

Applicants can obtain it over the counter immediately after submitting the needed documents and can pay in cash instead of eDirhams, Ali Hassan Al Marzooqi, Director of the Preventive Medicine Department, Abu Dhabi said.

“As per the new system effective from July 2, people can get their health cards directly from the Preventive Medicine Department on the same day they finish their medical tests without having to pay any extra fees. It will speed up the process as people can do away with the hassle of going to the typing centres, purchasing the eDirhams etc,” Dr Ali added.

According to the General Authority of Health Services (GAHS) for the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Preventive Medicine Centres in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Western Region will provide additional services that cover the issuance of health cards in order to create most possible number of sites that may facilitate delivery of health services to the public.

The new expansion of services will be effective from July 2 after the transfer of the Preventive Medicine Services in Abu Dhabi to the General Authority.

The working hours of Preventive Medicine will also be extended from 7am up to 3pm and the acceptance of health card formalities will be processed in Mussafah Preventive Medicine Centre.

So also birth and death registration department at the Al Ain (Al Jimi) hospital will be transferred to the Preventive Medicine Department building in Al Ain.
