SVA will soon shift to new premises

SHARJAH - The Sharjah Voluntary Award (SVA) will soon move into new premises as land for this has been donated by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

In a meeting presided held at the Sharjah Blood and Research Centre on Sunday, the new plan for the second year was discussed.

Speaking to Khaleej Times, Dr Amin Al Amiri, General Secretary of the award, said: "The award now has new members totalling to nine from the commercial, voluntary and military sides. We are also seeking fro help from the private sector."

He also informed that every year eight eminent people are given the appreciation for their voluntary works, but this year year nine people are being awarded, out of which five are females.

Dr Al Amiri said that individuals, establishments and ministries could also submit nominations for the awards. "We are expecting 500 applications from the public and ministries," he added.

He informed that the next meeting of the award would be held in September, while the award committee was trying to encourage members from the community to support the award.
