A 33-year-old Emirati and three Pakistanis received serious injuries after their car fell in a big ditch being excavated for a water pipeline project in Khorfakkan.

Col. Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al Naoor, Director of Khorfakkan Police Station, said that they received information about the incident at 12:30 at the operation room, following which a team of police, patrols and rescue unit reached the site.

When the police reached the site they found a Toyota FJ Cruiser inside the ditch. The passengers were immediately rescued and rushed to Khorfakkan hospital.

The official said the accident took place due to over-speeding and lack of attention on the road.

He urged the motorists to pay attention and follow traffic safety rules to avoid such accidents.

He also called on the concerned authorities that carry out excavation for their projects to install signboards warning people about the holes or cover them when work is not going on.
