The HCT Summer Academy, which will take place at Dubai Men's College from June 24 to August 2, is being held to help the students invest their time in constructive activities during the summer. It aims to shape student leaders by providing them two months training followed by one week for implementation of their ideas and skills as part of the Dubai Summer Surprises activities.

The participants will be 100 students from Dubai Men's College, 50 from Dubai Women's College and 50 from other Higher Colleges of Technology colleges. They will engage in a number of workshops and seminars about leadership, team building, communication and negotiation skills, time management, problem solving and more.

The workshops and training programmes will be based on the book My Vision — Challenges in the Race for Excellence by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The book offers a detailed account of the vision that transformed Dubai and the UAE into international hubs for commerce and finance. The presence of Dubai as an example of extraordinary development based on excellent leadership, management, teamwork and timely decision-making will be the motive for all the students participating in this workshop.

Dr Abdulaziz Al Hur, Director Arab Educational Training Centre for Gulf States in Qatar, will conduct all the workshops for the students.
