Sultan Praises Guests at Reading Festival
SHARJAH — His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, and his wife Shaikha Jawahir bint Mohammed Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs and Chairperson of the Sharjah Ladies’ Club, received female guests of the Third Reading Festival at Al Badea Palace on Tuesday.
The festival is being held at Sharjah Expo by the General Department of Children and the Women Centres of the Supreme Council, from February 14 to 21, under the theme: ‘Come and Read’.
Shaikh Sultan welcomed the guests and hailed their participation at the festival, being one of the cultural activities sponsored by Shaikha Jawahir to ingrain the culture of reading in children.
On her part, Shaikha Jawahir talked about the achievements of the council, citing the support of the Ruler of Sharjah in regard to social, cultural and economic development.
The guests lauded the pioneering cultural and scientific role of the emirate of Sharjah and the UAE. They also praised the sustained cultural efforts of Shaikh Sultan and Shaikha Jawahir, which they said would further boost the leading cultural and educational role of Sharjah. —
