Sudan defence team visits ECSSR

ABU DHABI — A delegation from the Sudan Institute for War Industry visited the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) on Tuesday. The aim of the visit was for the delegation to get acquainted with the activities and achievements of the ECSSR.

The guests watched an introductory presentation that focused on the objectives of the ECSSR and its various activities over the past years. The delegation was then taken on a tour around the premises, which included the UAE Federation Library, the largest specialised library in the country. The library houses tens of thousands of titles in addition to a thousand specialised periodicals.

Thereafter, the guests were taken to the Media Department where they were briefed about the daily functions of the department.

The delegation members praised the ECSSR and expressed their appreciation for the efforts made by the Centre in the realms of research, analytical studies, debates, conferences, lectures and academic publications.

Cultural fiesta

DUBAI — A grand cultural fiesta will be staged to mark the official opening of Syro Malabar Cultural Association in the UAE.

The event titled Syro Malabar Nite 2006 will be held on at the parish hall, St. Francis Assissi Catholic Church, Jebel Ali at 7pm on April 27.

The event will showcase the deep-rooted cultural traditions and heritage of the Syro Malabar Catholics and highlight the responsibility of the members to transfer this wealthy heritage and way of life to the young generation. The event will provide a forum for the members from the different emirates to meet and discuss the various issues and solutions related to the community in general and members in particular.

The event will feature the felicitation of Joy Alukka, Chairman of Joy Alukkas Group, Malayalam filmstar Boban Alumoodan and television performer Aniyappan.
