The Operations Room of the Sharjah Police received information that a girl was hit by a vehicle in Maleha around 6.30pm. The student succumbed to her injuries before reaching the hospital.
According to a police official, the accident took place while the girl was crossing the road. Ahmad bin Darwish, Head of Anjad Patrol at the Sharjah Police, said that the driver who caused the accident was arrested and will be referred to the Sharjah Public Prosecution. Prosecutors and forensic experts have examined the scene to determine the cause of the accident.
He revealed that the victim was a Grade-12 student at Sharjah American International Private School. Classmates of the student said that they were shocked to hear the sad news of the demise of their friend. They said the school will be mourning the death of the student.
