Colonel Ahmed Ghanim, Director of Bur Dubai Police Station, said that the Operations Room of the Dubai Police received information on Thursday night that a 14-year-old boy, who was walking in the Zabeel area was hit by a speeding car. The driver sped away after the accident and nobody could take down the number of the car.

The boy was taken to the hospital and the police launched a search for the car according to the descriptions of the eyewitnesses. The CID officials found a car with the same specifications in a workshop in Abu Dhabi. The police identified and questioned the car owner, who admitted that he gave the car to his younger brother. The brother allowed another sibling, a student, to take the car, the police was told.

The student confessed to the police that he hit the boy and did not stop the vehicle because he was confused and scared. The student has been referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution for further investigation.
