The Emirati student pleaded not guilty to prostitution, as well as to having consensual sex with another Emirati male youth who has been referred to the juvenile court. He also denied having produced or spread through the internet indecent materials. In the arraignment sheet of the Public Prosecution, he was accused of posting on the net a collection of pictures in some of which he posed as a woman in seductive postures in scanty outfits.

He denied being disrespectful to Islam by posting a picture of him online posing as a woman in hijab with female makeup and sitting before the Holy Quran pretending to recite verses.

Defence counsel Jassem Al Naqbi requested the court to hold the hearings behind closed doors. The charges he is facing carry penalties of prison terms ranging from one up to 15 years. Fines not exceeding Dh10,000 might also be imposed.
