Strong winds whip up sand
DUBAI - A sand storm that has been churned up by strong Easterly winds on Sunday afternoon has led weather forecasters to issue a marine warning.
Dubai weather forecaster Dr S.K. Gupta said visibility was not reduced significantly, with Dubai International Airport reporting 2000m at its lowest point.
However winds gusted as strong as 35 knots around mid-afternoon before dropping to about 14 knots. "The easterly has also brought medium to high clouds but there is no rain expected," Dr Gupta said.
