The 10-day programme, organised for the first time ever for jail inmates in Dubai, aimed at eliminating stress among inmates and educating them about how to deal with and control their psychological conditions. The training also focused on how to help the inmates to think positively about themselves and how to rationally solve their problems and start a better new life.
At a Press conference yesterday, Osama Khamis Al Musa, a psychiatrist, said this training was initiated by Brigadier Mohamed Saeed Al Suwaidi, Director of General Department of Punitive and Corrective Establishment, and Major Tariq Kalanther, Director of men's prison, to translate into action the words of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Al Musa said the training programme would continue for 10 days. "Due to space constraints, we selected only 40 out of a total of 1,000. Within 10 days, we will start a new session," he added.
