Statistical bodies meet to discuss Unified AGCC Census for 2010

DUBAI - Dubai Municipality recently held a first meeting of the statistical bodies representing the UAE in the AGCC level Technical Committee, which was entrusted with the preparation for the Unified AGCC Census for 2010.

Rashid Al Nuaimi, Director of the Statistics Department in the Ministry of Planning, Abu Dhabi, Dr Ibrahim Saad, Director of Statistics and Planning Department in the Ruler's Office in Fujairah and Arif Al Muhairi, Director of Statistics Centre, Dubai Municipality, attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed the minutes and recommendations of the third meeting of the Technical Committee of the Unified AGCC Census for 2010 held in December 2003 at Riyadh. It also discussed the recommendations of the Committee of Under Secretaries for Statistical Bodies on the prospects of benefiting from the use of specimen method in the general census. It was agreed upon conducting a study to find out how far the method is applicable in the UAE. The study will be presented in the fourth meeting of the technical committee, which will be held in April in Riyadh.

The Ministry of Planning here was entrusted with the task of preparing the directory of nationalities, which is to be presented in the fourth meeting of the technical committee. It was decided to hold the second meeting of the statistical bodies that will represent the UAE in the AGCC level technical committee at Dubai Municipality on March 9.

The technical committee was formed on the basis of a call given by the AGCC secretariat as per the decision taken by the AGCC Supreme Council on unifying the census period in all the member states.
