According to the officials, there has been a delay in the supply of construction material. Mike Denning, Operations Manager at OSUS, said, “We are having construction delays because of problems with supply of material,” he said.

Officials in the Projects Department of Dubai Municipality said they were coordinating with the company in order to ensure that the work gets completed as early as possible.

“We also want that the project gets completed as soon as possible. And we are always in touch with the company and are coordinating with them. The project will be completed this year and people are going to love it,” said an official.

The huge project will have 50 retail units in a spaceship-themed family entertainment centre and will take up 41,000 square feet. The retail spaces available will include shops, kiosks, cafes and restaurants.

The project emphasises a healthy, educational and entertaining family environment and is aimed at children in the 4-14 age group.

Visitors to Stargate will be able to participate in a variety of activities, including movies (in 2D and 3D), laser show, food court, shopping, go-kart driving, wall climbing, roller-coaster ride and, of course, the ‘Stargate Academy’.

Stargate will also be fully equipped with wi-fi technology giving visitors free access to wireless Internet. The children would be given to wear a child locator in the form of a pendant or a watch so that their parents keep track of them and know their location at any time.
