Considered to be one of the biggest entertainment shows of the world, Aqua Fantasia is being brought by Dubai Municipality this year for the visitors of Dubai Shopping Festival 2004. This enchanting visual magic is expected to attract huge crowds of revellers from within the UAE and outside during this year's festival.

Mohammed Al Fardan, Head of Promotions and Recreation Office in the municipality, said that the organising committee chose Aqua Fantasia because it is well-known and world-famous. He said the park has started setting up a special area in the Amphitheatre with a platform for this spectacular show so as to enable all spectators to watch it without any hindrance. The platform for the show is being set up with a water tank and dancing fountains, jet fountains, water screens, laser lights, cinema effects, decoration works, and fireworks.

The dancing fountains, which will be spread over 20 metres and would be 25 metres high, are being set up with modern techniques and innovative skills. The dancing fountains will be activated using pumps and hoses supported by colour fusion and moving effects of waves that include 270 blends with suitable pieces of music selected from folk and classical music from around the world. The dancing fountains will be accompanied by a group of jet fountains, ornamented with a number of changing effects such as flames shooting up from inside the water and rising up to 30 metres.

There will also be water screens, laser books, which will work with innovative shapes of fancy, variety of writings and moving pictures. These things would be shown on the water screen using multi-colour 3D laser beams, which will be used for the first time for water shows.

The fireworks will be done by two experts, and would adhere to all security measures according to the European standards. Many of the innovative techniques to be used this year are being brought to the Middle East region as well as outside Europe for the first time. There will be 65 shows throughout the DSF, and each show will last up to 40 minutes.
