"The stamps, based on the designs of the set of four postcards, are meant to carry the UAE's image of peace and harmony to the world, juxtaposed against some enduring images of the UAE. Emirates Post is proud to carry a social message in this promotion that allows people to greet their relatives and friends as well as win prizes," said Abdulla Al Daboos, Director-General of Emirates Post.
The stamps feature photographs of zakharaf, the ornate cultural designs used in the arches of old houses, facade of a traditional house topped by the barjeel (wind-tower), entrance of a traditional merchant's house, with decorative columns and the abras.
A fluttering dove features in each of the stamp to signify the UAE's commitment to peace.
The three-month Postcard Promotion will be conducted from October 1 to December 31, 2003, offering instant and grand prizes worth a total of Dh1.5 million.
