Speed kills Emirati driver on RAK road

A 22-year-old Emirati man identified as K.A.A., succumbed to fatal injuries on Sunday night, following a gruesome traffic accident on the Jalfar road in Ras Al Khaimah city.

According to a senior officer, a 19-year-old Emirati, A.E.A., who was travelling in another car, received injuries, and was shifted to the hospital for treatment.

Col Ali Saeed Al Alaikam, Acting Director of Traffic and Patrols Department, RAK Police, said the collision is attributed to the first motorist’s lack of attention and over speeding.

“He was driving very fast on the road around 6.30pm before the Maghrib (evening) time to catch break fast with family, and could not control the steering wheel.”

“The car in which K.A.A. was travelling collided with the other car, veered off the road and overturned several times, leading to K.A.A’s death,” he said.

He added that the Central Operations Room of the RAK Police, having been alerted of the accident, dispatched police, traffic, and rescue patrols to the scene.

“K.A.A. died on the spot and his body was shifted to the morgue.”

He added that the deceased was suffering from internal bleeding, particularly in the head, as well as from several fractures all over his body. “He was referred to the forensic doctor.”
