President Roh, who is the first South Korean president to visit the UAE, was accompanied by a delegation comprising four ministers and senior aides, presidential spokeswoman Mira Sun told AFP.

She said that agreements on economic, trade and technology cooperation will be signed between the two countries during the visit.

President Roh had told the Emirati official news agency WAM that he hoped that “cooperation in the field of energy and natural resources would go beyond increasing trade levels to evolve into a joint development of natural resources.”

He pointed out that the volume of trade between the two countries have increased “steadily to reach 12.7 billion dollars last year.”

President Roh had visited Mongolia and Azerbaijan on his way to the UAE.
