Social Affairs ministry’s plan to reflect leaders directives

DUBAI — Mariam Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs, has said that her ministry was keen to make its strategic plan for the year 2008-210 a reflection of the directives of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who always stresses on providing the people with all necessary facilities to ensure a happy and comfortable life for them.

She said that the strategy of the ministry ’s focused on activating the partnership with the private sector, promoting the sense of responsibility among community members, protecting the society against all problems and negative phenomena, concentrating on the needs of elderly people and marginalised children.”

The efforts made by the ministry for drawing up the strategy, included the formation of 14 planning teams consisting of 75 members.

The minister said that the social care was one of most important issues that the strategic plan had covered.

Other objectives include sustaining and protecting family values, strengthening social bonds, tackling social challenges and encouraging non-governmental and voluntary social work.
