Six Pakistanis killed in road accident

AL AIN — Six Pakistani expatriates were killed and another was seriously injured in a road accident on the Al Wegan-Al Ain highway in Al Wegan area, 90km south of Al Ain City, on Sunday night.

The accident occurred as two cars crashed into each other. While one of the cars was completely burnt in the incident, the other was smashed completely. A light pole and a part of the road were also damaged.

An official from the Quick Intervention and Major Accident Section (QIMAS) of Al Ain Police Emergency and Safety Unit said that B.D., a 46-year old man who was driving a pick-up van, lost control of his vehicle and collided with a Toyota Corolla car coming from the opposite direction.

R.H., the 41-year-old Pakistani man who was driving the Corolla car, and the four passengers accompanying him, died on the spot, the official said.

The driver of the pick-up van, also a Pakistani, died soon after being brought to the Al Ain Government Hospital. His compatriot who was travelling in the van and was seriously injured, has been shifted to Tawam Hospital.
