Sikh community leader and human rights activist Charnjit Singh was gunned down inside his shop located in the outskirts of Peshawar on Tuesday.
"An attacker shot Singh inside his shop and escaped afterwards," superintendent police Saddar Shaukat Khan said in an Express Tribune report. The Sikh leader died on the spot.
Singh has been living in Peshawar for decades where he owned a store. It was not clear whether the crime was a target killing or a result of personal enmity.
The murder caused panic among the Sikh community as some of them have been targeted by different attacks around the city before.
