As the power failure lasted for nearly four hours, businessmen in firms located in the three buildings were forced to stay outdoors till electricity was restored. People in the building called Al Ain Police and Civil Defence and the Emergency Unit of Al Ain Distributing Company for help.

Teams from Al Ain Police and Al Ain Civil Defence Department (AACDD) rushed to the scene, where the cause of the fire was discovered to be a short circuit.

"The Civil Defense personnel proved their skill by putting off the fire in no time," said a source from the AACDD. The source said that safety measures have to be consolidated to avoid fires and electrical short circuits in the future. "Nine fires have broken out in the first 15 days of this month," the source added, compared to the 13 fires the city witnessed in February 2005.
