DUBAI - Dubai Municipality's Pest Control Section fined nine establishments and issued warning notices to 50 shops and establishments in various parts of Dubai for violating the prevailing pest control and surveillance procedures during September, it was stated in the section's monthly report.
The report stated that action was taken against the violators during routine inspections, which are part of a series of measures taken by the section to preserve public health and prevent pest-borne diseases from occurring in the emirate.
Foodstuff shops, construction companies, and other establishments have to comply with general cleanliness rules as stipulated by the emirate.
During September, the section has taken necessary measures at Al Nasr Club, Al Wasl Club, Creekside Park, Shaikh Zayed Road, Al Dhiyafa Street, Al Safa Park and other areas against pests and insects. Pest control treatments and monitoring is being continued in all sensitive locations and waste collection and disposal areas, the report added.
The report says the section carried out inspections according to the two parts of the checklist. Out of 19 private pest control companies inspected in Dubai, 16 passed in both parts of the inspection and three passed partly.
The section has also fined two companies and served notices on three for misapplication of pesticides. Also during the period, five candidates for supervisory posts from new private pest control companies appeared for examination and none passed.
Six private pest control operators from different companies appeared for tests and four of them passed and two failed.
