Dr Fikri said the projects formed parts of the civic body's plans to develop its public services. He noted that the new administrative premises of the vegetable market comprise two levels on 1,872 square metres.

"The building will house several shops, supermarkets, cargo bureaus, exchange shops, municipality offices, security offices and public utilities. Special facilities for people with special needs were also designed at the building," he pointed out.

Talking about the expansion of Sharjah National Park, Dr Fikri clarified that six new playgrounds were added to the park including football, basketball and volleyball playgrounds.

"The municipality's project includes greening about 90,000 square metres, constructing a new mosque that accommodates 200 worshippers adjacent to another mosque for women in addition to greening an area of 32,000 square metres to be converted to play areas. The project also includes the establishment of public utilities at the park," Dr Fikri pointed out.
