Sharjah: The Sharjah Ladies Club is gearing up to launch the second edition of its Sharjah Ladies Run themed ‘Neon Night Run’.

The race will take place at the University City in Sharjah from 6pm on January 30, with the participation of hundreds of women and girls aged 15 and over. The first edition of the race won the Fitness Event of the Year Award at the Fit Awards 2014, adding another success story to the club’s achievements.

The race aims to encourage awareness of the importance of exercising and leading a healthy lifestyle among women of all ages.

Speaking on the occasion, Badria Al Ali, head of Corporate Communication at the Sharjah Ladies Club, said, “The Night Neon Run event is part of the club’s continuous aims to provide a sporting and health platform to ladies and girls residing in Sharjah and the UAE.

The event aims to motivate participants to make positive lifestyle changes and prevent health complications. The race will feature three different categories including the 2km, 5km, and 10km routes that will be open to all participants. “We hope the race will receive a great response as the case was with the previous run, held back in April,” she said.

Ladies and girls wishing to participate in the Neon Night Run can register at the main reception of the Sharjah Ladies Club or visit the official website and receive the race pack.

The competition will be sponsored by Bee’ah (main sponsor), Daman (gold sponsor), Sharjah Sports Council and Sia (silver sponsors), Women Sport Department at the club and Bin Hendi Enterprises (Voss) (support sponsors), and Natura Bisse and Lorna Jane (gift sponsors).

In April 2014, Sharjah Ladies Club organised the first edition of the run at the University City. The event attracted more than 300 women from different age groups, representing a number of government and private entities across the UAE.

The Sharjah Ladies Club aims to provide women with an environment to excel and prosper in order to enhance their position in society and enable them to play a larger role in developing their country. Moreover, the club provides women and children with a relaxing and nurturing place where they can learn and practise sports and other hobbies.
