The machines were supplied by Intercare company based in Dubai.
Residents of Sharjah would not have reasons to complain of accumulation of garbage and dust in residential areas and on main roads in the emirate from now on, said Dr Salah Al Haj, Director-General of Sharjah Municipality.
The purchase of the machines was part of the municipality’s efforts to maintain cleanliness and expand the green space in all parts of Sharjah, he said.
The machines included small ones for cleaning internal roads in residential areas and big ones to clean wider areas on the main roads. They also included scrubbers and washers that would be used to wash walls of the bridges and the domes of mosques.
Hassan Al Fattaqu, Head of Environment Services in Sharjah Municipality, said signboards calling for maintaining cleanliness would be installed on main roads, Al Buhairah corniche and beach areas.
Publications and brochures would be distributed among the public in malls and shopping centres, he added.
