Sharjah-based foundation announces Ramadan photography contest

SHARJAH - Residents of Sharjah can participate in a photography competition by submitting a picture related to the holy month of Ramadan at the website: www.funn.ae.

The competition is organized by Funn , the Sharjah-based foundation dedicated to promoting media arts for children and youth in the UAE, as part of  its  celebrations of the Holy month and with aim to  highlight the religious atmospheres in the UAE during Ramadan.

The participating photos may include Ramadan inspired ideas and rituals such as the moments of Iftar and Suhoor gathering with family, Iftar Cannon firing, Tarawih Prayers, Iftar tents, religious lectures in mosques and public places among more Ramadan rituals.

Entry is open to all residents in the UAE from all nationalities and age groups at the website.

Participants may post their meaningful Ramadan photos, before Ramadan 20, on social media pages: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

A judging panel from Funn Foundation will evaluate the photos based on such criteria as creativity and artistic touch and the ability to reflect the values and spirit of the Holy Month of Ramadan, in addition to the number of “likes” and retweets.

Winners will be anonuced during the last week of Ramadan and will receive valuable prizes from Fun. 

Commenting on the competition, Shaikha Jawaher bint Abdullah Al Qasimi, Director of FUNN, said: “We are committed to support the creative talents in all areas of media arts, including photography. Through this contest, which we launch for the first time, we aspire to encourage residents in the UAE to post what they see from Ramadan festivities and religious traditions during the month. We hope this competition will attract large participation from different social backgrounds and age groups”.
