Shaikha Fatima’s support to combating obesity hailed

ABU DHABI - The support extended by Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF) and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, to the United Nations’ programme against childhood obesity were hailed today by local and international officials.

Noura Al-Suwaidi, Director General of GWU said Shaikha Fatima’s interest in and full support to health and sports and her belief in establishing healthy foundations for generations contributed to the great success achieved by the programme.

For his part, Dr Ibrahim El-Ziq, UNICEF representative for the Gulf Area hailed the fruitful cooperation with GWU

and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, on combating childhood, the Education Ministry, Abu Dhabi Educational Council and SEHA.

He hailed the efforts of the UAE to combat the problem under the patronage of Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak.
