Speaking to Khaleej Times, Ali Abdullah Al Hamrani, Director-General of the department said that Ajman Municipality is currently carrying out several vital development projects which include opening of new shopping markets, roads, bridges, two parks in Masfoot and Al Helaiwa in addition to completion of the first phase of the sewerage network project.
Al Hamrani said the municipality is making great efforts in enhancing roads and constructing new ones to cope with rapid development in the emirate in particular and the country in general. “Because the movement between Ajman and other northern emirates on daily basis is massive, the department gave priority to enhance roads that connect the emirate with Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quain and Ras Al Khaimah. These roads including Shaikh Zayed road which extends from Sharjah, passing by Ajman and Umm Al Quain to Ras Al Khaimah. A new parallel road to Shaikh zayed road will also be constructed to serve the public in the industrial and residential areas close to it,” he added
Al Hamrani said that a new block will be added to Khalifa Roads which extends from Al Helaiwa bridge to Ajman Corniche to expand its length. Besides, expansion works will also be conducted to enhance the traffic movement in Rashid bin Humaid Road which is located in the middle of Ajman.
As part of the road development, the municipality will demolish some of the roundabouts, Mr Al Hamrani pointed out, adding that a contracting company was already appointed by the municipality to construct an amusement park equipped with restaurants and cafes on the Emirates International road.
