Seven new faces in new UAE cabinet

ABU DHABI -The President of UAE, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan endorsed the new UAE Cabinet as presented by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai on Sunday.

As he endorsed the new Cabinet, Sheikh Khalifa expressed his well-wishes for success to the new cabinet members. He also extended his thanks to the outgoing members for their efforts during their tenure in office.

According to the new reshuffle, a new portfolio for foreign trade has been created. Industrial affairs at the former Ministry of Finance and Industry, has been shifted to the Ministry of Economy.

The Ministry of State for Cabinet Affairs has become a full-fledged Ministry to be calle a Ministry for Cabinet Affairs. It is to this ministry that the former Government Sector Development Ministry will be attached. The new Minister of State for Foreign Affairs will retain his portfolio as the Minister of State for Federal National Council (FNC) Affairs.

According to the new reshuffle, four women will join the cabinet, increasing the number of women to four instead of just two in the previous cabinet.

Three ministries of state have been created.

Following in the full list of the Cabinet, headed by H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Defence:

  4. Lt-Gen. Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior
  5. Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs.
  6. Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
  7. Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
  8. Shaikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works.
  9. Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of Foreign Trade.
  10. Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs.
  11. Mohammed bin Dhaen Al Hamili, Minister of Energy.
  12. Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy.
  13. Maryam Al Roumi, Minister of Social Affairs.
  14. Dr Hanif Hassan Ali, Minister of Education.
