ABU DHABI — People desirous of performing Haj this season have been asked to register their names with the authorised Haj tour operators latest by September 12, the deadline set by the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Auqaf (Endowments).
“Those who wish to perform Haj this year should speed up in having their names registered with the permitted Haj tour operators,” said GAIAA Director-General Dr Mohammed Matter Al Ka’abi.
The number of pilgrims permitted from the UAE is 15,000, half of whom are expatriates, as per the quota of pilgrims fixed by the Saudi authorities for each country, he said.
“No one will be allowed to perform Haj without a Haj permit issued by the authority, and which will be delivered to the applicants by their respective haj tour operators,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dr Hamdan bin Muslim Al Mazruwai, head of the authority called on haj tour operators to abide by the rules and conditions set by the authority, one of which is that no expatriate or national is allowed to perform Haj more than once in five years.
