Separate judge to handle EAMA cases

DUBAI — All cases involving the rights of minors shall be heard at the Establishment of Auqaf and Minors’ Affairs (EAMA), according to Salem Obeid Othman, Chief Judge of the Dubai Shariah Court of First Instance.

A judge shall be appointed at the EAMA to hear and decide on the cases related to the rights of minors. Initially, the judge shall hold weekly court. Later, depending on the number of cases, he may increase the frequency of court sittings, Othman said.

The Dubai Courts, following several meetings with EAMA representatives, has instructed the Shariah Court to appoint one of its judges to be present on a permanent basis at the EAMA, to help facilitate procedures, Othman added. Meanwhile, the Dubai Courts, as part of coordination with government departments, is planning to appoint another judge at the Ministry of Social Affairs to handle cases, Othman concluded.
