Seminar features eminent speakers

DUBAI — Horizons 2007, a management seminar organised by students and faculty of the management department of MAHE (Manipal Academy of Higher Education), Dubai Campus, lined up pioneers and experts from various fields who shared their views and experiences in their respective fields.

The forum was organised with the aim of bringing together industrialists and academics, said Dr Bilal Mustafa Khan, the Chairperson of the Department of Management Studies.

He emphasised a balanced approach to learning and said industry-academia interface as one of the key to learning.

He also said the seminar aimed to target not only undergraduate level university students but also post-graduates from different universities as well.

Speakers on the first day included Assis Cardoz (Creative Services Director of Impact/BBDO), Hamid Bokhari (Head of CRM, Barclays Bank) and Mohammad Iqbal Yacoobali (Divisional Merchandise Manager RGG LLC).

The second day featured eminent speakers including Prashant Vatker (MENA's Business Head of Marico World), Abbas Ali Mirza (Partner of Deloitte and Touche) and Upendra Balachandani (Senior Divisional Manager of NBD). The third day of Horizon started off with the “Who wants to be a millionaire” game where students had to play against the stimulated stock market and create a high net worth by excellent investment portfolio. The game was won by the second year management students, Ms. Noornazar and Ms. Ayushi.
