This number included 48 cylinders that entered the country illegally, as well as 92 cylinders found at a warehouse in the emirate of Sharjah, all of which were confiscated to prevent exposure to the hazards that these cylinders may cause due to unsafe storage conditions and consumption.

Ali Salem Al Mahmoud, SEDD Director General said: “Consumer safety is one of the top priorities of SEDD and a goal we constantly seek to achieve. Our teams have done a great job in this regard, and we will support them in every possible way to ensure that consumers stay safe.

“SEDD is continually investigating used cylinders, and have specific schedules to exchange cylinders after expiry. Furthermore, SEDD has signed numerous agreements that ensure that cylinders are periodically changed and that the market is provided with new cylinders,” he added.

Khalid Sayf Ibrahim, Head of Censorship and Commercial Control at SEDD, added: “We urge consumers not to purchase cylinders from outlets that provide cheaper prices but with reduced quality, to demand invoices from sellers, and to check the name of the seller, as well as the cylinder price, size, date of purchase and the label of the gas company. Should a violation be spotted, consumers can use our direct line to report the matter so that it can be dealt with quickly and effectively.”

SEDD has advised its consumers to keep their gas cylinders in a well-ventilated place away from heat sources and the kitchen, as well as from flammable materials, and to check the valves, etc. after usage. In case of a violation being detected, call the customer service line: 600567777.
