The duo had been battling for their lives since February 14 in the ICU of Saqr Hospital where they were admitted after being knocked down by a vehicle.

The RAK Traffic and Licensing Police said the two schoolgirls were hit by a vehicle while crossing the Al Rams Road in the Sham area after alighting from their school bus.

According to the police, the vehicle that hit the girls was driven by a UAE national, identified as A.A., who has been referred to the Public Prosecution.

The management of Indian School in Ras Al Khaimah and the parents of the school’s students have offered their condolence to the families of the two deceased.

Meanwhile, scores of parents, including Jayadas, father of one of the deceased, are accusing the school’s management of negligence in providing caretakers to help the children cross the road after alighting from the bus.

Fatumah Sunil, whose little son studies at the Indian School, also expressed her concern saying that on a number of occasions her child had been left alone to cross the busy road near her residence.
