“The opening coincided with the inauguration of Fujairah City centre,” said Mohammed Saif Al Afkham, Director-General of the Fujairah Municipality.

The constriction of the 1.7km street was completed in five months, Al Afkham said, adding that a number of new roads will be built in the emirate to ease the traffic flow and lessen the pressure on other roads as the emirate is witnessing a rise in the vehicular traffic as a result of the economic boom and the rapid growth of population.

The new School street begins from the Hospital Roundabout on Al Nujaimat Street (Palace) in front of the Centre for Disabled and ends at Shaikh Maktoum Street (Fujairah-Massafi) near the new City centre.

It is an easy and safe route for motorists heading to the school compounds, Tennis club and the new City Centre, he added.
