The girl was knocked down by her school bus on Monday, a few minutes after she had disembarked in the Al Rams area. The 30-year-old Yemeni driver of the bus was taken into custody.
Colonel Hassan Al Jeeda, Chief of the Traffic Section in the RAK Traffic and Licensing Department, said after getting down safely from the bus, the girl realised that she had forgotten her jacket. She ran after the bus and came in front to signal to the driver to stop, but the driver did not notice her and knocked her down.
Col. Al Jeeda appealed to school bus drivers to be attentive. “After dropping the children, bus drivers should ensure that they have crossed the roads safely,” he said.
