RTA Spending Dh1 Billion on Internal Roads Projects

DUBAI — (RTA) on Tuesday awarded a contract for constructing internal roads in the Nad Al Sheba-2 area at a cost of Dh86 million to a Dubai-based company, Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the authority, said on Tuesday.

The project includes construction of two-way roads of 5km, a 14km road, five intersections, a 2km lane and a 5km bicycle track.

Al Tayer said that the RTA is constru cting internal road networks in different areas of the emirate at a total cost of Dh1 billion.

“Some of these projects have already reached their final stages. The construction of roads and pavements in the Jumeirah-2 area has been completed at a cost of Dh75 million.

“This project included the construction of three new internal roads, public parking and transforming the Aroobah Road into a two-way road with pedestrian crossings. It also included construction of pavements, rainwater drainage, irrigation lines, lamp posts and traffic signals at the intersection of Aroobah Road with Al Wasl Road,” Al Tayer said in a statement.

Levelling and road construction in the Al Barsha South area has been completed at a cost of Dh110 million.

It included four signal-controlled intersections, lighting works and overhead and ground traffic signage. The RTA has also completed construction of roads in Al Qusais area at a cost of Dh43 million.

The project comprises new roads, six roundabouts, a car parking lot, improvement of some of the existing roads and intersections and road lighting network in various areas of Al Qusais 1 and Al Qusais 2, Al Tayer said.

Construction of roads in Muhaisnah 3 and Muhaisnah 4 has reached the final stages. The project, which costs around Dh74 million, includes 17km of internal roads and car park.

The project includes transforming Halab Road into a two-way road as well as lighting works and other services.

Eighty per cent of the Suffouh Road improvement project has been completed. The project comprises road improvements and a link with the bridge crossing the canal of Dubai Marina. It includes a bridge linking Jumeirah Beach Residence with Dubai Marina.

“Work is currently under way on the projects in Muhaisna-1 and Mizher-1 at a total cost of Dh160 million. Also, road improvement projects in Oud Mateena-2 at a cost of Dh50 million are also under way with more than half of the work completed.

“Recently, the RTA awarded a contract for landscaping and upgrading of Al Nahda-2 area at a cost of Dh118 million,” Al Tayer added, further elaborating on the upcoming projects.
