Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority, Matar Al Tayer said that expansion will be undertaken on roads leading to the bridge beginning from Um Hurair Road. This will reduce congestion from Shaikh Zayed Road towards Deira.
It also includes improvement and development of Khalid Bin Al Waleed Road to ease traffic movement towards Deira using Al Maktoum Bridge.
RTA has awarded the contract of the movement parts of the bridge and improvement works to the contractor Wagner Peru who is now working on the Floating Bridge.
Improvements include increasing the number of lanes from Deira to Bur Dubai from four to six.
Al Tayer explained that the Roads and Transport Authority was coordinating three projects to be executed on the Creek, including Al Garhoud Bridge, Floating Bridge and Al Maktoum Bridge.
