The project seeks to widen the Emirates Road from a three-to a six-lane traffic with a length of 32 kilometres from the border of Dubai-Sharjah towards the Arabian Ranches Roundabout.

Engineer Maitha bin Udai, chief executive officer of the RTA Traffic and Roads Agency, said that the project seeks to improve traffic flow in Emirates Road, which is considered as one of the busiest roads in the region.

Likewise, additional lanes will be provided in seven of the existing interchanges in Emirates Road, which will eventually help in easing congestion at the entry and exit points.

Engineer Nabeel Mohammed Salih, director of RTA Traffic and Roads Agency, added that the project works, which began on February 25, 2006, has received a budget allocation of Dh333 million.
