In cooperation with the Directorate of Public Works, the Sharjah Police will close the roundabout for a week, effective from 10am tomorrow, and will provide new traffic diversions for motorists.
The decision has been taken to facilitate construction works.
Two exits will be put on the right and left sides in order to ensure a smooth traffic flow.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Sulaiman Al Hajri, Head of the Roads Department at the Directorate of Public Works, said that road construction would not affect traffic movement because clear exits are being provided.
Motorists travelling from the Ismail Al Buraimi Roundabout on Industrial Road No 3 leading to Dubai will have to take the right exit towards Al Maliha Road at the roundabout of Industrial Area 2.
Motorists coming from the Industrial Area 2 Roundabout will be diverted to a right exit of Industrial Area 3 to Al Habib Square.
Those coming from Al Habib Square will have to use the right exit towards Industrial Area 1 roundabout, while motorists travelling from Industrial Area 4 Roundabout through Al Maliha will have to use the right exit leading towards Dubai.
This is the eight roundabout to be converted into a traffic-light intersection in the emirate, said Lieutenant Abdul Rahman Khatir, Head of the Roads Project at Sharjah Police.
