Report on development needs of city submitted

One of the reports called for the paving of 162.6km of roads to assist the development and progress of the city and villages.

Another report referred to the need for dams and barriers to better serve farmers, and increase ground water storage. The number of small and large dams required for the area was estimated at 5 dams.

The "Al-Raheeb" area was identified as the most in need of buildings. The reports spoke of 1325 houses, 16 mosques, six schools, two nurseries and a clinic for the area. Also, 23.89 km of roads leading to the area needed to be paved.

The breakdown of new houses for the city and its neighbouring villages was as follows: 541 for Dibba-Fujairah, 222 for Al Basseera, 180 for Wem, 106 for Al Ghoob, 113 for Al Halah, 40 for Ayeena, 11 for Zaher Al-Safwa, 23 for Shirmata, 24 for Al Ghoona and 9 for Wadi-Sana.

There was also a need for three schools, two clinics, five mosques in Dibba. At least 59.8 km of roads needed to be paved.

Dibba and its vicinity were identified as in dire need of replacement and renovation of approximately 5,000 houses constructed in 1973 and 1980.

Saeed Rashid, a Dibba citizen, expressed the hope that a large hospital would replace the present one, which had already undergone several renovations and was not big enough to admit large numbers of patients.

Nabeel Mohammad, a university student, emphasised the importance of constructing sports and cultural clubs and youth centres.

Khaled Moustafa lent their support for the construction of homes for the elderly.
